Brigid by PickledPixie Brigid by PickledPixie
This is my depiction of the Celtic Goddess, Brigid.

Although not a 'traditional' Triple Goddess, she is often shown as such. There were, in fact, 3 sisters all named Brigid - daughters of the Daghda.

Brigid was Goddess of nature-lore/herbalism, the hearth, childbirth/mid-wifery/fertility, areas of 'high-intellect' such as inspiration, poetry & wisdom, and of fire & forge...

She really was the original Deity for all occasions & and important aspect in the lives of the celts.

It is a rather neat piece, isn't it! But I think the structure & flow works in its favour...
Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm so happy that you like it

Thankyou Marion!
I was worried that this piece was a tad too structured, but I think the balance of structure, form & flow has worked more or less in this piece...
Thanks again for your wonderful words :thanks:

Yeah, took me a while, but was worth the procrastination in this case... I really wasn't sure which direction I wanted this piece to go in initially. For what ever reason things just flowed when I sat down with it again.

I'm not sure that neat is a good thing. Sometimes I think I'd love to let loose & just throw paint at the paper, but I have a love of lines & line-work. I need to loosen up a little methinks, and explore the messy side of art more often =D

Neat IS a good thing!!! Letting loose is too of course, it's fun. Though the cleaning up needs to be done after*hates that part* :giggle:I hate to think how many times I've carefully washed the hands etc. to go into town and completely missed all the paint spatters up to my elbows, sawdust and worse in my hair.

I just love Celtic myth & legend. They're so rich & vivid...
I had a hard time deciding which deity to try & then how to depict her!
Spent a lot of time reading up on Brigid. She's a fascinating Goddess!

I've still got a long way to go before any of my pieces reach the *really* detailed stage! (I'm too lazy for starters  )
